Bolton Bond Board formally constituted 7th April as a Company Limited by Guarantee and a Registered Charity

Bolton Bond Board set up National Rent Deposit Forum in partnership with Kirklees Bond Bank

375 bonds issued to date – 58 bonds end without a claim

The Department of the Environment fund a part-time worker to recruit and support a team of volunteers to assist bondees to make their tenancies work

A team of 7 volunteers are trained and deliver signposting support to 98 bondees

September – Bury MBC and the Bolton Bond Board start a small pilot scheme for 6 months in response to the rise in street homeless in Bury

Bury’s 6 month pilot Bond Scheme goes live in January / 19 people are housed

Working in partnership with landlords and Housing Benefit teams in Bolton, Bury and Rochdale to secure funding for the support service from Supporting People.

Bolton Bond Board lead the way nationally to achieve this in the private-rented sector

Neighbourhood Renewal Fund money secured for a dedicated Landlord Worker in Bolton to deliver landlord training, support and deal with anti-social behaviour issues

Funding secured with Bury MBC from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to deliver the service for another 12 months

A small pilot is started in partnership with the Strategic Housing Service and the Homeless Department of Rochdale MBC to start issuing bonds to families and to explore the issues for families in the private rented sector in Rochdale.

Young musicians held a fundraising event for The Bond Board at the Friend’s Meeting House, Bolton.

A pilot scheme was set up to issue bonds to families in Bolton and Bury.

Tenancy deposit protection schemes came in to force in April.

The Bond Board, as an organisation,was accredited by Bolton MBC for three years.

2008
Local Housing Allowance was introduced. Agreements were made in Bolton and Rochdale for direct payments to landlords for vulnerable tenants. As a result, bond take up in those areas increased.

2008
The Bond Board joined HACT (The Housing Action Charity) to develop partnerships with other small providers in Bolton.

2008
Consultation with the Box of Frogs for twelve months, to identify ways to improve the service.

2009
In September, the bond closed for five months in Bolton, for new bonds, due to high demand and lack of resources.

2009
In April, we received money from Probation for the bond pot and agreements to deliver a service for two years.

2009
In April, our funding increased in Rochdale to deliver a combined bond and floating support service, as requested by service users.

2010
In January, the floating support in Bury closed. However, the bond in Bury continues.

2010
In April, we signed a new contract with Rochdale for undertaking Safer Homes, Mortgage Rescue, Empty Homes, Gypsies and Travellers and Landlord Accreditation work.

2010
We were audited by Rochdale MBC and achieved a Grade A for the quality of our floating support service.

2010
Service users formed BBAT (Bond Board Action Team).
