Local Housing Allowance increase

Local Housing Allowance is used to work out how much help you get towards your rent from either Housing Benefit or Universal Credit. The amount you get depends on several things, including:

●How old you are
●How many bedrooms your household needs
●What area you want to live in
●How much money you or any other adult in the house have coming in
●Whether you are affected by the Benefit Cap
●Whether you have any deductions being taken from your benefits.

From April 2020, the Government has increased the maximum amount of Local Housing Allowance you can get. You don’t need to do anything, if you are entitled to more help with your rent, you should receive this from April.
