The Bond Board is proud to have been successful in being part of the Fair Housing Futures commitment to build a private rented sector that works for all. Funded by the Nationwide Foundation and hosted by Shelter, the Fair Housing Futures partnership aims to gain a better understanding of the private rented sector in Greater Manchester.
The number of people living in the private rented sector has grown over the years, with this in mind it is important that the experience of renting for vulnerable tenants is improved by enhancing housing policy, practice, and options. Fair Housing Futures want to ensure that tenants have access to decent, affordable, and secure homes.
In fulfilling this our PRS Navigator service aims to promote good practice amongst private landlords and agents, offering training; up to date information on legislation; improving communication between landlord and tenant; advice on welfare benefits to support and maintain tenancies.
The Coronavirus pandemic has been unprecedented and with an already unstable rental market we sought out to gain an insight on how the pandemic has impacted the rental market and the effect it has had on landlords and letting agents in Greater Manchester– their experiences and challenges, including increases in rent arrears, the level of communication with tenants and what help and assistance both landlords and tenants were aware of.
